During the trip, the students also explored Cape Town to get inspired and learn more about South-African culture along the way.
This is how we experienced Cape Town.
Nine of our professional bachelor students have just returned from their South Intensive Program (SIP) in Cape Town. In collaboration with AFDA Cape Town, Mwenge Catholic University and Erasmus Hogeschool Brussels. A South Intensive Program (SIP) is a short and intensive study program that connects students and teachers from Flemish colleges with institutions in the South. The aim is to create awareness of methods and practices in the Global South, encourage inter- and multi-disciplinary approaches, promote sustainable partnerships, develop relevant learning materials, encourage innovative methods and identify potential project proposals.
The students had the opportunity to explore Cape town but also had an educational program ahead of them. We worked on a project called 'The Herd' which is a theatrical performance based on a specific part of Sundjata's story. For the technical part, we primarly focused on using innovative technologies like AI as a co-creator for our visuals. This way, we explored the possibilities of transforming a story into an experience through newly discovered methods.
